Michi Terms of Use
DRAFT: these terms are a placeholder and have not been reviewed by a solicitor.
Last updated: [date] (terms version [version])
1. Who we are. Michi is run by Paolo Farinella ("we", "us"). Contact: hello@michicareer.com.
2. Using Michi. You must be 18 or over. Michi is a career coach: it helps you record your work achievements ("wins"), see where you stand against a career ladder, and prepare for a promotion or a new job with plans, CV rewrites, cover letters and interview preparation. Much of this is written by AI from what you give it. Features, limits and availability may change.
3. Plans and payments.
- Plans. Michi has a free plan and a paid plan, Plus. What each includes, the monthly allowances and the price are shown in the app (Settings > Plan and Usage, and the Plus screen) before you buy. Allowances reset at the start of each calendar month (UTC). To keep Michi fair and stable we also apply daily and per-minute limits; if you reach one, some work may be done later (for example, a score "tonight") or you can try again later. A request that fails does not use up an allowance.
- Auto-renewal and payment. Plus is bought through the App Store and paid for with your Apple ID. It renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancellation. You can cancel Plus at any time in your iPhone's Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. You keep Plus until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting your Michi account does not cancel your subscription: cancel it first.
- Refunds. Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases (reportaproblem.apple.com). [solicitor to confirm: consumer cancellation rights for digital content in each market Michi is sold in.]
- Price changes. If we change the price of Plus, we will tell you in advance. Where Apple requires your consent, your subscription will not continue at the new price until you agree.
- Apple's terms. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement applies together with these Terms: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/.
4. AI output is a suggestion, not advice. Scores, plans, CV rewrites, cover letters and interview answers are generated by AI and may be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable. They are not professional careers, legal, financial or immigration advice and do not guarantee any job, promotion or outcome. Check everything before you send it to an employer: you are responsible for what you submit, including that it is true.
5. Your content. You keep all rights in what you add to Michi: your CV, your LinkedIn profile text, your wins, the job ads and career ladders you add, and your answers ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited licence to process Your Content only to provide Michi to you. You must have the right to share what you add: do not upload other people's confidential documents, or your employer's confidential information beyond what you are allowed to share. [solicitor to confirm: wording on employer confidentiality.]
6. Files you upload. A CV or resume, LinkedIn export or ladder file is read once and deleted; neither the file nor its full text is stored. Michi keeps only what it builds from it (your roles, skills and wins, or the ladder's criteria). What Michi keeps is described in the Privacy policy.
7. Acceptable use. Do not use Michi for anything illegal, abusive or sexual, to harass anyone, or to try to make the AI ignore its instructions. An automated check flags content that may break these rules. Depending on the case and on earlier flags, we may warn you, pause your account for a few days, or place it on hold for a human review; repeated or serious cases can lead to closure. We tell you in the app (Settings > Account) and by email. You can contest any decision at hello@michicareer.com.
8. Your account. Keep your sign-in secure. You can delete your account at any time in Settings > Account; this removes your data as described in the Privacy policy. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.
9. Liability. [solicitor to draft: limitation of liability, consumer rights not affected, governing law and courts.]
10. Changes. We will tell you in the app about material changes to these Terms. If you must accept new terms to keep using Michi, the app will ask you.
